Species description: Native to southeastern United States, this maple is a close relative to Sugar Maple and has a classic sugar maple style leaf. This species has wonderful red-orange fall foliage color.
Specimen description: This tree has already been trained for a few years and has a lot of potential. It has nearly radial roots from having been grown through a washer for a few years. It also has many branching options and options for continuing the trunk to build taper if the future artist desires. The species is gaining a lot of popularity in bonsai cultivation, so it is difficult to find a pre-bonsai with as many good qualities as this one.
