Species description: Crataegus ambigua is a Hawthorn native to western Asia and eastern Europe. This species produces white flowers, red fruits, buttery yellow fall color, and produce an interesting rough bark. The species responds very well to bonsai techniques by readily backbudding and handling root work well. Due to the several points of interest and their ability to respond to bonsai work well, Russian Hawthorn make excellent bonsai.

Specimen description: This Russian Hawthorn has a beautiful trunk that is already developing mature bark. The tree has many low branching options as well as multiple escape branches, and it may be developed into a smaller or larger tree. The tree has several surface roots already and the nebari can be further improved through repotting and root work.
