About: A North American pitcher plant prized for its upright, tubular pitchers and striking coloration of green, red, burgundy, and heavily veined patterns. It’s a carnivorous perennial native to the southeastern United States, adapted to nutrient-poor, acidic wetlands. As with other Sarracenia, it captures insects in pitfall-style leaves and derives supplemental nutrients from its prey.
Size: The pitchers are tall, trumpet-shaped leaves that can reach 12–36 inches.
Light requirements: Full sun
Watering requirements: Keep moist sitting in a tray of water outside, never allowing to dry out.
Temperature & Humidity: Grows best with cool winters (30–50°F) to satisfy dormancy, warm but not extreme summers (65–85°F daytime), and moderately high humidity (50–80%) during the growing season. Provide consistent moisture, gradual seasonal temperature shifts, and good airflow to keep plants healthy and producing attractive pitchers.
